Did you know that US dollars sent South of the Border rose 5.94 percent this year compared with the same period in 2010. Money sent home by immigrants (legal and illegal) so far in 2011 totaled $3.05 billion, up from $2.88 billion during the same period of last year.
Just this year, the flow of dough increased from $1.4 billion in January to $1.65 billion in February.
Western Union wire transfers account for most of February’s 5.02 million payments and the average amount was $327.
These transfers do not require a bank account and are made in cash and delivered in cash.
At the time of this writing, money transfers are Mexico’s number 2 source of total revenue. Proceeds from oil exports are number 1. Many households depend on these remittances to meet their day-to-day living expenses.
The largest percentage of money comes from the roughly 11 million Mexicans living and working in the United States.

keep hiring them , no tax on that money, that is how much USA is losing
A lot of them have fake I’d’s and there employers deduct the SS taxes. Its a great benefit to the failing SS system, because these poor guys are paying in but will be unable to collect.
its out of control, south of the border HAS to be completely SHUT DOWN.
@2… Your facts are 100% wrong. It’s the onus of the employer to verify the SSN. A card does NOT have to be presented to the employer, only the SSN. The employer verifies the identity of the alleged holder with the Social Security Administration for free at:
http://www.ssa.gov/employer/ssnv.htm
If the employer deducts SS and/or Income Tax on a phoney number he will be fined and possibly cited for fraud, as he would be for hiring “under the table” or “off the books”.
If the employer files a W-2 for a phoney SSN, it generally takes about 3 to 6 months of backlog for the SSA to catch up with him/her. At that point the employee had better leave the country and the employer is more or less nailed for failing to follow IRS regulations and will open a can of worms because the IRS will be all over them, nook and cranny. Talk about Bedikat Chametz!!!!
If you are here illegally, without documents or on expired documents it is still possible to work legally and pay taxes. You must file for an Individual Taxpayer Identification Number (ITIN) using IRS form W-7 ( http://www.irs.gov/pub/irs-pdf/fw7.pdf).
While this is not a SSN it is required to work in lieu of not having an SSN or using a phony one.
For more information about the ITIN check this link:
http://www.irs.gov/individuals/article/0,,id=96287,00.html
Illegals will generally NOT file a State or Federal tax return, but In the first year they should file a paper return and attach the W-7 (Using the ITIN). After that they file each year using your IRS issued ITIN just like everyone else uses a SSN.
Persons needing to obtain an ITIN are:
Other examples of individuals who need ITINs include:
• A nonresident alien required to file a U.S. tax return
• A U.S. resident alien (based on days present in the United States) filing a U.S. tax return
• A dependent or spouse of a U.S. citizen/resident alien
• A dependent or spouse of a nonresident alien visa holder
Note that most tax and payroll software will automatically replace a fake Social Security Number from the W-2 issued by your employer with your ITIN once you have one except in the the first year you file. On that return you have to write “applied for” in the box asking for your ITIN.
PS: I wrote the article so that people would “read between the lines”.
Two points to ponder. Local law enforcement does NOT have jusrisdiction over illegal aliens; only the Federal Government and DHS in particular (who took over from the now defunct Dep’t of Immigration).
While the track record for enforcing ALL illegal alien laws is dismal, the record for ruthlessly going after employers is stellar. (Note: Rubashkin).
Second point is while an average $1.5 billion is sent to Mexico from aliens in the US EVERY MONTH (making it the second largest source of Mexican revenue); if the largest revenue (#1) is oil exporting, why are we paying an average $4 to $6 per gallon of gas?
to all
the united states invited the mexicans to live here back in the bush administration. this was a deal that was made at the time between the us govt and the mexican govt or bush vs president then fox. Therefore when u see them in the back of a pickup truck remember that they were invited ,
they didn’t invade us we invited them because we
USED THEM FOR CHEAP LABOR and u know what
THEY DON’T MIND BECAUSE THEY HAVE WORK
YES THEY ARE ORIGINAL AMERICANS BECAUSE THEY HAVE BEEN ON THIS CONTINENT SINCE BEFORE THE FIRST EUROPEANS LANDED ON THIS SOIL AND CLAIMED IT THEIRS OR STOLE IT FROM THE ORIGINAL INHABITANTS
outside of this know FACT: we now used them for cheap labor !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
so citizen be aware that this is historical facts and not made up.
to all others enjoy the cheap labor because one day maybe 20 years from now we all will be talking spanish.
