Urgent Message From Chaveirim

chaveirim at work in the snowIn light of the forecast for Shabbos, we’d like to issue the following advisory: We ask that all drivers to be extremely careful when driving. Driving should be completely avoided unless it is of extreme importance. Even an SUV, Suburban, 4×4, or other 4-wheel-drive vehicles will slide when braking! If it is absolutely necessary to drive, drive slowly and carefully. Chaveirim received well over 1100 calls during and after the last snowstorm, many of which could have been avoided. If you are staying in New York or another area over Shabbos, keep in mind that down south there will most likely be a lot more snow. Do not attempt to return to Lakewood until you are sure it is clear and safe to drive here.

Additonally, if your call is of urgent nature, please notify the dispatcher immediately. Thank you, Gut Shabbos, and stay safe!

  1. with all due respect to Chaveirim and other org’s I’m sick and tired of all these important messages do you think the olam in lakewood is of kindergarden age and we must be told to drive safe in the snow?? Do we need askanim telling us about the pending snowstorm most of us adults are pretty aware of what’s going on and we have common sense too. We don’t have to be treaded like 2 year olds in order for some to feel important! how about these headlines..
    Hatzola urges all to breathe..
Askanim urge all to wear coats in the cold….
the vaad urges all to wear boots so not to fall…

  2. #2, uh, yes, this is necessary. Maybe you have common sense but the last snowstorm proved just how many people in this town don’t. If you don’t like it, don’t read it! Just don’t call Chaveirim if YOU get stuck.
