Photos and video below. First Report: The PD and FD are en-route Elmwood Plaza for a suspicious substance found in a rubbermaid container. They are requesting HAZMAT to respond. We will keep you updated as soon as the information becomes available.
U/D 4:19 p.m The area at Elmwood Plaza, has been closed off. An employee of one of the businesses at the plaza, called Police after the package, which was dropped off by UPS at a different location and brought to Elmwood Plaza, smelled strange. The Officials on scene are waiting for the HAZMAT team to arrive.
U/D 4:45p.m The HAZMAT team has just showed up and currently gearing up to head inside the building. The Ocean County CIU, Lakewood Police Street Crime Units and Members of Lakewoods‘ Detective Beaureus‘ Office are on location as well.
U/D 6:43p.m All Departments have cleared the scene and are taking the package in for examining. However, it is believed to be approximately 15 pounds of drugs.
