UPDATE: Police apprehend driver who sped around school bus at high rate of speed [VIDEO]

Police this morning apprehended the driver who was caught on video speeding around a school bus at a high rate of speed.

This morning, traffic safety units Alex Guzman and Steve Meyer returned to the area where the incident occurred in hopes the driver would once again pass through the area.

Approximately a half hour later, the driver drove down the same block, and police initiated a traffic stop.

Police managed to identify the driver as the one in the video, and have issued him a careless driving summons.

  1. I am not at all going to say what this driver did (on video) was in any way ok, however, I do think we should really first see the whole story and not just a 3 second clip.

I am one of thousands in Lakewood who are so frustrated with the busses in our community and the bus drivers who think they own our roads – of course all in the name of our children’s safety (sic). We have all been subjected to this on a regular daily basis by way too many local bus drivers. Not all, but too many. Mind you, these are drivers driving with kids standing, kids with hands and even heads out of the windows, kids throwing garbage from the bus, kids congregating in the back of the bus so kids safety is not their obvious concern.

What am I referring to? Buses that drive well below a normal speed limit, buses that use 2 lanes so nobody can pass, buses that never stop at a stop sign, rather stop in the intersection (short stop and all), buses that sit with their red lights on for a long time just waiting for those parents who are very late in sending out their kids to get their kids out, buses that make turns without signaling as they veer way to the left for a right turn or way to the right for a left turn, buses that are driven by drivers who just simply think they own the road, buses that drive with yellow lights flashing on main roads for no reason, buses that block intersections at traffic lights preventing those with the green light from driving, buses that sit for so long talking to parents who whoever while traffic backs up unnecessarily.

We have all been subjected to these types of drivers all the time and it becomes extremely frustrating for drivers in an already driver frustrated traffiky town.

Perhaps, I am saying just perhaps, and again not saying it would be the right thing to do, but perhaps, this driver came around this bus at a higher speed because he had been subjected to careless and infuriating driving from the bus driver for blocks and blocks and this was his opportunity to get around this bus driver. Again, not saying it’s ok, just putting a different spin on this because in the end of the day, nothing is being done to make sure our bus drivers drive safely, normally and with our kids safety as their priority.

  2. The fake wood scoop may be moserim. They didn’t see the whole story they shouldn’t decide and publish anything athat can cause harm to someone.

    • And you may be a Redneck.

What more do you need to see?

Ah, unless it was YOU of course.

And to the loooong comment about how nefarious some drivers are in Lakewood, I couldn’t agree more.

But what on earth has this got to do with the way the yokel was driving!?!

  3. To EJ. What more footage do you need to see? That driver is a sketch and his erratic driving may, LoAlenu, cause harm to an innocent pedestrian or another driver.
