As reported last night, two pedestrian were struck and killed by a vehicle in Toms River yesterday evening.
At 6:55pm, multiple Toms River Police units were dispatched to the area of
Fischer Blvd. just north of Hazelwood Rd. for a crash involving two pedestrians struck by
a vehicle.
The investigation revealed a 2021 Toyota Corolla operated by Sholto Roach of
Toms River, NJ was travelling northbound on Fischer Blvd. when he struck 72-year-old
Craig Parson and 68-year-old Debra Wright both of Toms River, NJ.
Mr. Parson and Ms Wright were attempting to cross the roadway at the time in an east to west direction and were struck in the right lane of travel. As a result of the crash, pedestrians Craig Parson and Debra Wright were transported to Community Medical Center in Toms River where they succumbed to their injuries. The driver of the vehicle was treated for non-life- threatening injuries as a result of the crash.
Multiple lanes of Fischer Blvd. were shut down for several hours while the investigation was ongoing.
No citations have been issued as a result of the crash investigation.
The investigation is being handled by Officer Nelson of the Toms River Police Department’s Traffic Safety Unit assisted by the Ocean County Sheriff’s Department CSI Unit and the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office.
