Update on the EBT Thefts: Though Many Victims Have Shopped at Lakewood’s Foodex, The Issue is Much Broader [UPDATED]

Statement from Rabbi Boruch Mordechai Spiegel

As the number of EBT fraud victims continue to climb, authorities are realizing the issue is much broader than originally thought, and it appears now to be a nationwide issue.

According to Lakewood Police, other authorities are now involved in trying to determine the source of the fraud.

Allegations that local cashiers may have used skimmers or other ways to commit the fraud, appear unfounded at this time.

  1. I suggest spending your money on shelf stable items or crediting it to your account as soon as the money comes in so that you can avoid having it stolen from your account.
