Update on Ron, the Homeless Man

ron after haircut at walmartFrom friends of Ari – the man who helped Ron, and offered him a stay at a motel: We would like to make it clearly known that Ari B. is NOT the guy involved with the coffee incident and is in no way shape or form associated with the kid that offered Ron $5 to pour coffee in himself.

Ari heard about the horrible story on Facebook and reached out to Ron to try to help him out. Ari got Ron a hair cut took him to Walmart to shop for new clothes and gave Ron money for food.

He made plans to meet Ron on Friday at 11:30am to put him up in a motel for the weekend. Ron did not show up. Ari waited until past 1pm. Then drove around town to look for Ron. Ron was nowhere to be found not even in his dug out.

Ari finally met Ron at 3 PM, but the Motel did not open the doors. Since Ari is an observant Jew and keeps the sabbath, he was not able to assist past 4:45pm.

An organization from Barnegat, NJ contacted Ari on Friday and offered to take over by locating Ron again (since Ron does not stay put in one place and roams around) and putting him up at a hotel.

The offer still stands we have the money set aside for Ron’s hotel stay. If anyone has any information on where he is please contact us. Thank you!

  1. I’m not sure the first needed clarification. No one in their right minds would think for a second a Tzaddik like Ari would do that. As far as the 2d part, its really sad that Ron didn’t show up. It also highlights the struggle facing those organizations dealing with the homeless: a lot of them have mental illness and can’t do anything or won’t do anything to help themselves. Why didn’t Ron show up ?! Someone was willing to put him up in a motel for the storm !! It must be terribly frustrating.

  2. Ron is staying at a motel he is covered for few nights but can use more the rate is $100 a night you can contact Cindy she is working with the Pastor Steve and all the homeless her phone number is 803 767-5993

  3. I was with Ron at the grand motel in the afternoon and noon responded there to the bell they have at the door. Ron did not want to wait because he was hungry. I took him to D&D pizzeria and gave him money for food. Since I am an observant Jew I was not able to wait and help him any longer at that point until tonight. I was in contact with an organization located in barnegat nj who assured me they are on the way to find him and take him to motel. I instructed him to stay at his dugout u till they arrived. I am now by grand motel trying to find him and hear what really happened after that.

  4. Ari, your doing great. I just want to rephrase one point for public clarity. Shabbos is not restrictive and from saving lives etc. but rather since the organization in Barneget offered to take over and you already spent a big portion of your day on it, and you took him too eat, and you had a family waiting at home, and you had your holy shabbos approaching, you agreed to share your special mitzvah with the other organization while you tended to your other obligations.
I don’t know why this story dosnt go twice as viral as the first. The kindness here should cause even the biggest haters to get drunk over this selfless unreal caring and kind behavior.

  5. Thank you all for trying to help Ron. Ron needs more assistance than living in a tent city can offer . Hopefully in the future Ron will receive the help he needs . I hope Paul Hulse ( Beat the Streets) can help him.
