Update On Potholes And DPW

John_Franklin_DPW_HeadEver since we’ve tackled the Pothole issue around town, TLS has been continuously receiving many emails from residents, either about the Pothole or about the lack of service they are receiving. TLS again spoke with the Department of Public Works Head John Franklin this morning to discuss the progress of the Pothole repairs and the frustration from many Lakewood residents. “The phone doesn’t stop ringing” Mr. Franklin said. “There are a lot of Potholes around town, but until the weather improves and we can put down the Hot Patches, the current repairs won’t last”, he said.

As previously explained on TLS, the current patches, known as ‘Cold Patches’, are used as temporary fillers until the warmer weather arrives and permanent patches can be placed.

As for the customer service at the DPW which many have complained about recently, Mr. Franklin has informed us that he has already spoken with the receptionist at the Office and is dealing with the issue, which he hopes will be resolved quickly.

The potholes on SquankumRd leading to Monmouth Rd are really bad- it feels like your on a rollercoaster- bumping here and there. Additionally, cars swerve on the narrow roads to avoid potholes and it can become dangerous with the many Lakewood pedestrians and other cars on the road.

My husband called public works at 8:45 this morning about pot holes on my block. he got hung up on, but surprisingly, at around 10:00 AM a township truck came by and filled up the holes. ( I don’t think they did such a professional job, and I don’t know if they came because of the phone call, or if it was a coincidence)

Myrtle and Lakeview; Adams St; Sunset between Central and South Lake; every street along that area is pockmarked with CRATERS. its a slalom course, we should change them all to one-way streets to avoid head-on collisions.

#2, don’t complain anymore, you got your results. And don’t criticize the work since you don’t know the difference. Simply say….Thank you

I would like to thank the township for filling the many potholes. However, i’d like to vent a little here. Most of the pothole infested roads is due to the fact that these roads already had bad cracked pavement thus allowing the salt to do all that damage. Many of these roads are in desperate need of repaving for many years. The real solution here is to repave alot of these roads — it’s long overdue.

A way to save tax dollars may be to out source pot hole filling and get some of the people off of Clifton Ave and working.

how the potholed street behind the middle school the whole street is one bunch of craters and a lake or ocean. it s terrible! that strret has had problems for a while. Is it a real street or an alley? if its a street treat it like one and get rid of the drainage problem and that might help the huge potholes out there! thanx 4 listening!
