UPDATE: Manchester man arrested at gunpoint charged with Eluding Lakewood Police

lpd gunpoint arrestOne of the men arrested at gunpoint earlier this week was charged with Eluding Police, Detective Lieutenant Greg Staffordsmith said today.

As earlier reported, at approximately 6:45 pm on January 21, Officer Tyler Ragauckus responded to Tuscany Terrace for a report of suspicious activity. Upon arrival, a resident advised that several hours earlier, a white Chevy sedan stopped at the end of the cul de sac. One of the occupants exited the vehicle and appeared to have placed an item along the tree line. The male then entered the car and left the area at a high rate of speed.

Officer Ragauckus and PO Kenneth Schaal checked the area and located a black plastic bag with approximately 750 folds of heroin under a tree. The evidence was seized and secured for the purpose of conducting further investigation.

The next day at approximately 2:45 pm, Officers Ragauckus and Eric Micallef were dispatched back to Tuscany Terrace after receiving a call from a resident that the white Chevy Malibu was parked in the cul de sac and two of the occupants were
pacing back and forth along the tree line.

As the Officers traveled towards the cul de sac, they observed the Chevy Malibu coming towards them. The Officers signaled for the vehicle to stop, however, the driver ignored their commands and continued to travel around the police car at a high rate of speed.

As the vehicle continued to flee, Officer Andrew Meyer had arrived and exited his patrol car.

The operator of the Malibu lost control of the car while attempting to go around Officer Meyer and struck a curb before coming to rest on the front lawn of 10 Tuscany Terrace. The Officers then surrounded the vehicle, and removed the occupants at gunpoint (pictured).

The driver of the vehicle, 25-year-old Matthew Davis of Manchester, was arrested and charged
with Eluding. The front passenger, a 20-year-old Lakewood man was released.
