UPDATE: Man taken down by Lakewood Police Officers on warrant charged (VIDEO)

The man caught on video being taken down by Lakewood police officers, has been charged.

On January 16, at approximately 9:40 pm Officer James Mahecha was traveling south on Rt 9 when he observed a man he believed had an outstanding criminal warrant for his arrest.

“Upon confirming the validity of the warrant, Officer Mahecha approached 29-year-old Charles Davis of Lakewood as he was walking across the 7-11 parking lot at 200 River Avenue,” police say. “While attempting to place Davis in handcuffs, he began resisting Mahecha’s control and was subsequently taken down to the ground with the assistance of Officer Daniel Umlauf in order to safely effect the arrest.”

In addition to being served with the warrant for his arrest, Davis was also charged with one count of Resisting Arrest. He was later transported to the Ocean County Jail.
