Lakewood Police officers this afternoon helped residents unload their luggage from a truck, having been picked up from Newark Airport when their plane arrived just before Shabbos.

  1. Lakewood police rise to the occasion to help the residents! Its a great feeling to know that they go over and above their duties and responsibilities. It’s a good mutual arrangement. Being an officer in this town is an interesting and fulfilling job. It also is probably one of the safest police precincts in the United States. Other than for action driven guys who need the constant adrenaline rush, its a comforting feeling.

  2. Saying police helped them get their things off implies it was already Shabbos. Then why would that bochur be wearing headphones. The article linked explains it was about an hour(?) before Shabbos. It is good to clarify.

    • I think the story is that they came straight off the plane with just carry on baggage as they couldn’t wait for their bags to come from the baggage claim. On Sunday, the truck brought their checked baggage (as the article says this afternoon). It’s also pretty obvious that these pictures are not from Friday from the way everyone is not dressed for shabbos.
