TORNADO UPDATE: Lakewood Police Chief Greg Meyer Appoints Team To Help Expedite Power Restoration

Since last night, TLS has been inundated with messages inquiring when power will be restored to their area.

Over 30,000 JCPL customers in New Jersey lost power as a result of the tornadoes that swept through the area yesterday evening.

Lakewood Police Chief Greg Meyer tells TLS he has appointed a special team of traffic safety and other units – led by Ptl. Alex Guzman – to help the power company navigate around Lakewood and ensure power can be restored as soon as possible.

“We are providing whatever support we can tp ensure power is back up and running quickly,” Chief Meyer said. “We understand it’s frustrating, especially with the Pesach holiday coming up for many, but we are doing whatever we can to expect the process.”

Only about 1,000 residents in Lakewood lost power, while nearly 5,000 in Howell and nearly 10,000 in Jackson lost power.
