UPDATE: Homes being evacuated after gas line struck in Lakewood

As reported on our news alerts, a gas line was struck in Lakewood, and police are now evacuating homes.

The incident occurred around 5:40 PM in the area of James Street and Sunset Avenue – at the construction site.

A resident on scene tells us there’s a strong odor of gas in the area.

Police say multiple homes are being evacuated as a precaution.

The Fire Department and gas company are responding to the scene.
