UPDATE: Brick Home Fire Claims a Life

crime scene investigationAs earlier reported, Brick Police and Fire Departments were dispatched early this morning to a structure fire on Brower Dr. Upon their arrival they found neighbors attending to one of the occupants of the residence, an unresponsive male. CPR was in progress, but was unsuccessful in reviving the victim, Ocean County Prosecutors Office Spokesman Al Della Fave says.

A Female occupant of the home had also made it out of the structure and was treated for none life threatening injuries at Ocean Medical Center in Brick. There is a family pet (Dog) that is unaccounted for at this time.

Flames were visible from all sides of the structure. Other surrounding area fire units from Bayhead, Mantolokin, and Point, to name a few, responded to assist the Brick Fire Units. Ocean County Prosecutor’s Arson Unit, Ocean County Sheriff’s CSI and Brick Fire Prevention Bureau all are on scene beginning the investigation into the cause and origin of the fire.

At this time, it is unknown whether the male victim, age 74, suffered a heart attack or if his death is directly related to injuries received from the fire. A post mortem examination will be conducted. The investigation continues.
