Two Juveniles Arrested After Vehicle Strikes Law Enforcement and Civilian Vehicles During Incident at Entrance to GWB

Attorney General Matthew J. Platkin, the Division of Criminal Justice (DCJ), and the New Jersey State Police (NJSP) today announced an investigation into two individuals who, based on the investigation to date, eluded police while driving a vehicle that rammed multiple police and commuter vehicles at the entrance to the George Washington Bridge in Fort Lee, New Jersey. The two individuals in the vehicle were taken into custody.

As part of a developing investigation, during morning rush hour on Wednesday, February 7, 2024, law enforcement located and attempted to stop a Range Rover in Fort Lee as it approached the George Washington Bridge. Based on the investigation to date, the driver of the vehicle rammed officers’ and civilians’ vehicles while attempting to elude law enforcement. The vehicle was ultimately stopped and the driver and passenger — both juveniles — were taken into custody at the scene.

A joint investigation is underway by DCJ and the NJSP.

“I am grateful to law enforcement for successfully preventing serious injuries to commuters at the George Washington Bridge,” said Attorney General Platkin. “We will continue to work with our law enforcement partners to keep New Jerseyans and our roads safe.”
