I’m not even sure if it would have helped, but why don’t school buses have seat belts!?!?!?! I have never understood that!

They Do !!!!!! And have for a LONG time!! As Bus driver for a long time, saying again THAT the SCHOOLS And B O E ARE Not doing enough to enforce this. The CHILDREN WILL MOT and DO NOT, listen to the DRIVERS, and the drivers are TIRED of telling them a hundred times a day to sit down! ! It STARTS at HOME PARENTS!!!!!

I teach my kids to wear seatbelts. The problem is that they don’t want to be the only ones wearing seatbelts. Then they become “nebs”.

you should go try to get your bus license, lets see you pass all the tests we take !!! not to say you cant pass but accidents happen. dont matter how long you been driving for, especially in lakewood. and not for nothing funny how its always the BUSDRIVERS fault! !! please !!!! Try doing it for one week. by a dedicated bus driver!

I think they can make buses smaller and less burdensome on the road if they just didn’t put seats on buses!

BUS MONITOR ADVOCATE

….again bus monitors are important…obviously they can’t control accidents but they can control the kids to make sure that they are wearing their seat belts & make sure they are behaving & in this case I’m sure it would have helped for the children R”L that were hurt to have another face helping them besides for the caring busdriver

Enough with the school buses.

Lakewood should institute a wide range of city bus routes.

Let all the kids take city buses. Little ones can be accomponied by older siblings, neighbors, friends.

This would save the crazy traffic that just grows and grows and grows…

ATTENTION BUS DRIVERS:
STOP DEFENDING YOURSELVES!
You guys do a great job & we love you!
With what you have to put up with, driving in this town, you guys are really good. No need to shiver from some peoples insensitive comments. These are probably the same guys who:
1) Stop short in front of you
2) Cut you off
3) Pull out of a side street/parking lot right in front of you
4) Stop in the middle of a left turn to talk on the phone and/or text
5) Etc…

Instead of arguing about what happened why don’t you just stop and say tehillim and hope everything is okay.

Lately our bus drivers are driving careless these days and it doesn’t matter how difficult the tests are or how long one has been doing it! That car today was hit at the side! The way these people turn off the side streets on Pine is ridiculous!

Only in Lakewood do you see so many bus accidents (just like MVA). I have been behind buses and the kids are jumping all over the place and standing up. A bus driver can do only but so much and still pay attention to the road. It does start at home! I would not want to be a bus driver, at least no where in Lakewood.

I as a driver that drives around Town all day I could tell you that the way the people drive here should it be men or women not looking what they are doing cutting off drivers not stopping @ stop signs

When I am driving I always yield to a bus driver. after all the bus is bigger than my car.

the truth is, if kids would sit, they probably not injure themselves because the seats are very high. i wouldn’t blame anyone in this case. which kid wants to sit nicely for an hour, when they can jump around with a whole bunch of kids

The driver can be the safest person on the road, and the children angels, and accidents can still happen. When I was a child, we had a bus driver who enforced strict rules like “straight to the back, three in a seat.” There was no changing seats, standing, or shouting. She was so dedicated, she would have children who didn’t check with her before they would cross come back and do it again. (We loved her, btw, she was not mean, just strict). Well one day, a car pulled out in front of us and our bus literally ran right over it. Although luckily the few injuries on the bus were minor, both people in the car were killed. Accidents happen and it can just as easily be the driver of the other vehicle’s fault.

Some of these bus drivers are just very arrogant. Like keeping the red lights on for too long. Also some of them drive careless too. I’m not blaming anyone here but we all know bus drivers have to drive more safely and care about others too.

School Bus Driver

Right on #7 and #11….. What a shame everyone is blaming the school bus drivers.
Maybe the blame should be on the automobile drivers. Everyday is a challenge driving in Lakewood, BUT Friday is the worst. Everyone is driving like they are going to a fire!!!!!! SLOW DOWN…… Yes, some school bus drivers are terrible, but the percentage of us are excellent and do our jobs professionally. So please dont put us all in one category.
Teach your children how to behave and how to act on a school bus, this goes for everyone, not just one group of people.
And to #10, think before you post, there would be the same amount of traffic since they capacity is the same.
REMEMBER, when we have our amber lights on it means SLOW DOWN not SPEED UP, and when our RED LIGHTS ARE ON, this means STOP NOT GO!!!!!!!!!!!!

@ # 20, The reason some of us keep the red lights longer for your taste is because someone like you is moving your vehicle and the children aren’t even across the road yet, my lights will stay on until very child is across the road SAFELY! and not one minute sooner. It’s not arrogance is called the SAFETY OF ALL CHILDREN COME FIRST!
