Turning Lanes Come To The Widened New Hamsphire Avenue

PHOTO: Motorists using New Hampshire Avenue will have noticed the new turning lanes which have been placed this week on the now widened State road. The new turning lanes installed at Oak Street and Pine Street intersections, are intended to help alleviate the traffic congestion on New Hampshire Avenue during peak hours.

Many motorists choose New Hampshire as an alternate to River Avenue during the daytime hours, being that is is usually far less congested than River Avenue, which only has one northbound and one south bound lane south of Central Avenue.

The project began at the beginning of the year. TLS-MK.

  1. Hello State of NJ- wishing you would do the same with Rt. 9 south of Central Ave! Not sure of why New Hampshire needed this first. People there just need to slow down and watch the traffic lights. Rt 9 South needs a whole new makeover. We can’t even go over 15mph even if we wanted to!

  2. and what do we do with all the houses and buisnesses thats are in that area ? they dont have the room to widen the road. you just want to take the rest of these peoples property just because it is a inconvience to you ? you wanna live in lakewood get used to the traffic. and guess what . its only going to get worse

  3. But why on earth do they have to work during rush hour in the morning!!! I am always late to work no matter how early I leave. By the time I leave at 4 they are not there anymore, cant they work in the afternoon/evening or night….

  4. New Hampshire Ave. is a County road which might be why it was done first, however the state should’ve just kept on going when they did Madison ave last year….
