Once again, the Lakewood Police Department will be hosting its Annual Night Out Against Crime Community Fair.
This year’s event is scheduled for Tuesday, August 1st, 2023.
The event will be held at Lakewood’s Pine Park, located on West County Line Road and Country Club Drive.
The event will run from 4:00pm until 8:00pm.
There will be children’s rides, free giveaways, displays, shows, demonstrations and more.
There will also be a free bbq and other food for the families to enjoy.
Will food be kosher? If so, why are they offering pizza AND BBQ?
I went last year. Both were served. There was no indication of where any of the food was from & no frum people watching the workers/turning on the fires. So the bbq was bishul akum. Needless to say, we didn’t touch the food…
It was a nice outing but the food was a disappointment.
What does this event cost the township & what is the purpose of having it?
Upon learning that the LPD will be hosting its Annual Night Out Against Crime Community Fair on Tuesday with a free bbq, long-time Lakewood thief, Mr. Joe Steele, told reporters on Monday that he is cancelling all robberies scheduled for Tuesday evening, so that he can partake in the free bbq and “enjoy a sumptuous meal for once in my life!”
“I’ve been working non-stop for the past 12 months, robbing homes, businesses and cars 24/7, without taking a breather,” Mr. Steele confided to reporters. “I’ve barely gotten any sleep, and I haven’t had a decent meal in months! It’s time for me to take a much-needed break and to gobble down some delicious free bbq for once in my life. Yum, yum! I can’t wait for the Night Out Against Crime Bbq!”
However, the veteran thief stipulated that his attendance at the bbq would only come to fruition if “Officer Jones is not in attendance” at the event.
“If Jones is there, I’m darting out of there as fast as possible!” he said. “Jones has been on my tail for the longest time, and I’m not about to bump into that obnoxious Sherlock Holmes wannabe anytime soon!”
Mr. Steele also stipulated that his attendance at the bbq event would come to an abrupt end if he “spots the fellow who lives across the Lake” at the event.
“I’m pretty certain he saw my face through his living room window when I tried to break into his home the other day,” Mr. Steele said. “If I see him at the bbq, I’m out of there quickly’! Hopefully, I’ll have enough time to fill up a ziplock bag with plenty of bbq meat before I flee the scene.”
Mr. Steele went on to lament that, “You can’t be a successful robber, if you don’t eat properly.” “Protein is important,” he said, “especially meat protein.”
“I love bbq and deli meat!” he added. “I think I’m gonna start focusing all of my break-ins on Delis and butcher shops from here on.”
