Trump campaign manager Bill Stepien said the president would request a recount of the votes in Wisconsin, whose 10 electoral votes have been awarded to Joe Biden.
Stepien said “irregularities” were observed, prompting the campaign to make the move, in what is a major swing state that could tip the election to Biden.
Social media has been rife with allegations of voter fraud in Wisconsin and other states. In Wisconsin, observers have noted that the number of votes counted in the state exceed the number of registered voters in the state, an obvious statistical impossibility. Additionally, Trump supporters have pointed out that votes added to Biden’s tally overnight don’t make sense, saying the numbers are simply too lopsided to be accurate.
Recounts generally don’t change anything, but they sometimes get several hundred votes changed or disqualified. With Biden winning Wisconsin by over 20,000 votes, it is unlikely that the result will be changed unless evidence of major fraud is uncovered.
