  1. No.
And also I think we should remember we’re in golus and we shouldn’t get so worked up about things that don’t affect us. This isn’t our country and if it doesn’t affect prices or Israel why are we busy with it?

    • We are in golus, but that means we should care about our country, especially a country as wonderful as the US (which treats frum people much better than Israel does). Why are we busy with it if it doesn’t affect Israel? On the contrary, why would I care about Israel (as a country)? I’m a US citizen, I’m not loyal to another country just because I share an ethnic background with some people there. By your logic, shouldn’t Jews be barred from any position requiring loyalty to the US (especially when it might conflict with the interests of Israel)? You’re literally parroting (unintentionally, I’m sure) the anti Semitic trope that Jews of all countries are only loyal to Israel.

      • Thank you! I am so angered by Ruth’s remarks. Many Americans have fought in wars in an effort to keep the world safe. Many have died or carry physical and emotional scars because they answered the call for freedom. How incredibly insensitive you are.

  2. President-elect Trump is unhappy with the flow of illegal migrants coming into the US from Canada. However, after Canada becomes the 51st US state, it will no longer be illegal for Canadians to sneak into the US because Canada will be part of the US, which means no more ‘Hide and Seek’; problem solved!
Likewise, a surefire way to solve the problem of illegal immigration from Latin America would be to make countries like Mexico, Venezuela, El Salvador and Brazil, the 52cnd, 53rd, 54rd and 55th states of the US, which would essentially render the whole concept of illegal immigration and border czars obsolete.

  3. The idea is even more absurd than his suggestion that the US should buy Greenland. Canada is culturally and legally very different from the US. Why would they trade in their subsidized healthcare for this mess? Yes, there are many who hate it. But the vast majority love it.

  4. With the exception of francophone Quebec, the rest of Canada is pretty much culturally identical to the U.S., especially in their midwestern provinces. I lived in Alberta for a few years, and the conservative leaning population of oil & gas workers, farmers and cattle ranchers, identified more with their Montanan neighbors than with “easterners” (who are resented in the same way that many of our Midwesterners — often referred to as living in “flyover country” — resent the coastal elites).

Canada is way too large to be just one state. But certainly the people of the midwestern plains provinces — Alberta, Saskatchewan & Manitoba — should be a warmly welcomed addition to the U.S. They would bolster the strength of the traditional, family oriented conservative U.S. electorate.

If the Democrats ever manage to give Washington D.C. and Puerto Rico statehood, then the midwestern Canadian provinces joining the U.S. would become absolutely essential, to offset the addition of two new, solidly “Blue” states. But, as has been pointed out, this is all irrelevant to the time, please G-d soon, when the g’eula will bring us out of golus and back to Eretz Yisrael. What happens in North America will be the concern only of those left behind.

  5. A couple were taking a road trip through Canada and got lost. They pulled into the first gas station they passed, and the man goes inside to ask directions. Currently he emerges, and returns to the car while shaking his head. ‘Well?’ Said his wife. ‘Where are we?’ Her husband replied, ‘No idea! They don’t speak English in this province.’ The wise asks ,’what did they say?’ And her husband goes, ‘ Saska Toon Saskatchewan’

  6. I think it’s a great idea:
The USA is now ranked 4th Largest country in the world.
Russia is the largest with 6,612,075 sq. miles.
    US now 3,809,525 sq. miles
    +
    Canada now 3,855,100 sq. miles
    =
US will be 7,664,625 sq. miles
Making the US the largest country in the world.
Plus Canada will gain unthinkable protection, technology etc.
But what will the British Empire & France say about it.

  7. Canada is waay too big to be a single state!

(And it would be great to break up existing big states too – separate New York City from Buffalo State, Chicago from Illinois, etc.)

What I do support is Conservative provinces seceding, starting with Alberta.

    *Vive le Québec libre!*

  8. I think we should leave it as is. Having too much of the world under one rule can be a bad thing, especially for Jewish people. In addition, Canadians are big anti-semites I went there in the summer for only 3 Days yet I witnessed 2 antisemitic episodes. One was a man screaming out of his car at my family “Get away from here, we don’t want you here!”

  9. This narcissist Trump dreams of more power and prestige, and cares little about the people who don’t worship and admire him. It takes a selfish man to even consider the fantasy of Canada joining the MAGA lunacy as America devolves terribly under his rule.
