Commercial Trucks May Soon Be Allowed On Entire GSP

gsp_tls picState transportation officials are investigating whether to allow big commercial trucks to travel the Garden State Parkway north of exit 105, a section that they currently are banned from using. State Transportation Commissioner James Simpson confirmed that the feasibility of allowing commercial trucks north of Exit 105 in Tinton Falls is being studied. Trucks currently are permitted on the Parkway south of Exit 105.

“We’re having the folks at the Turnpike (authority) look at it to see what the limitations are, like the overhead heights and loads and pavement wear and tear,” Simpson said. “We’re looking at it all, but we have no answer yet.” Read more in APP.

  1. ARE U KIDDING ME? YOU CAN’T EVEN TAKE CARE OF THE ROADS THE WAY THEY ARE NOW!

IMAGINE WHAT THE CONDITIONS OF THE ROAD WILL BE LIKE WHEN TRACTOR TRAILERS ARE ALLOWED?

THINGS JUST KEEP GETTING WORSE AND WORSE

  2. nononononononononoNONONONO NOOOOO!!!

Absolutely not! Don’t even TRY, DOT! I LOOOVE driving on the GSP because there are NO TRUCKS! Having trucks there would cause HUGE amounts of traffic!! It’s arleady bad enough during rush hour and when there’s an MVA, but this will make everything ten times worse!!!!!!!

Do not take away my pleasure of driving on the GSP! Just don’t do it!

  3. You know its already going to happen because they are proposing it. This means if you read it, they are already putting it in play..too late ..sorry but hey have a nice day

  4. Can’t believe all the whimpering and crying, grow up.
    Its all about $$$.
They will get all those extra axels on the parkway and even though you will lose your peaceful ride, you don’t “deserve” it or own the parkway.
That being said, fridays in the summer going to the shore will be that much more congested and hazardous.
Perhaps they can make it off-limits to truck on summer weekends.
