Thanks to the help from the public, Toms River Police Detectives James Carey and Randy Petrick yesterday made an arrest in the Robbery of a TD Bank branch that occurred on Friday July 10, 2015. Jerome Gilby, 30, of Oak Street in Lakehurst was taken into custody at his friend’s house on the 3200 block of Oceanic Avenue in Toms River.
“Within hours of posting the banks surveillance photographs on the police department’s Facebook page as well as online with numerous local media outlets, Gilby was identified” Toms River Police said. “Over a dozen tipsters recognized Gilby and contacted the police department.”
Investigators from the FBI, Ocean County Sheriff’s Department CSI Unit, Lakehurst Police, Brick Police, and the Seaside Heights Police Department worked closely to track down the whereabouts of Gilby. Once his location was determined a surveillance team was set up at the Oceanic Drive residence. After a short period of time the arrest was made at that home.
Gilby, who was taken into custody at 4:30 pm on July 13, was charged with the bank robbery and is being held on $100,000 bail with no ten percent option for release.
