  1. This once happened to me, and the police and insurance company found me liable. A truck (and a bus) need TWO lanes to turn, and if you drive into the right lane while the truck is making a right turn, IT WILL BE YOUR FAULT.

I learned my lesson big time. Now, I wait patiently for the trucks and busses to turn, while everyone behind me honks and honks and honks and has nervous breakdowns.

“Welcome to Lakewood, where everyone is in a mad rush!”

  2. What if the car got into the right lane before the truck got into the left turning lane? If a truck needs two lanes then an accident could have still happened. Then the car should have gone first and everyone behind the car should have waited.

  3. that makes it an accident a day this week—–what in the world is wrong with drivers? dont blame lakewood—its every where—we just have lakewood scoop to keep us informed–we should be more wary —and start driving texas-style—-“friendly”

  4. #4 Always let the truck go first you may see the big long truck but the tuck driver may no see the little car because the truck driver is watching his trailer turning. So don’t give it any thought that the driver of the car should go first. Thats why you have accidents like this in Lakewood.

  5. with a school bus. It had its hazards on in middle of the street and was stopped, the driver got out so I passed on the right to turn right and then the driver got back into the bus, turned on his signal and turned right right into me!!! It was so scary! I had my babies in the back seat and we just folded right into the bus! Thank Goodness she heard my honking and stopped, I nearly had a heart attack.

  6. If the truck was not signalling a turn properly the car driver may not have known. When you see a vehicle in the left lane you assume it is not going to turn right.

I don’t know what really happened here but don’t be so quick to cast blame.

BTW I bike a lot and I have had cars turn into me as iI pulled up next to them, and they were not signalling. BH I never got hurt.

  7. Williams is one lane if you drive on the shoulder because there is room to turn right YOU ARE WRONG. Period. That’s the chance you take. I see it every day.

  9. Take a look @ the picture it doesn’t make any sense – the car is all the way on the right and the truck is next 2 it – I can’t make out if the truck is facing north or south so wat the _____ went on ?!?
