Traffic Alert: Wright-Debow Road Bridge over I-195 closed and detoured as bridge replacement advances in Jackson

The New Jersey Department of Transportation (NJDOT) today announced the closure and detour of the Wright-Debow Road Bridge over I-195 as the bridge replacement project advances in Jackson.

NJDOT’s contractor, Berto Construction, Inc., closedand detoured the Wright-Debow Road Bridge over I-195 between Kolendorski Road and Patterson Roadovernight on Friday, October 30 to begin bridge demolition and reconstruction.

Local access for businesses and residents will be maintained on Wright-Debow Road up to Kolendorski Road and Patterson Road, which will both remain open. The closure and detour will remain in place until summer 2021, when the project is expected to be completed. The following detour is in place:

Wright-Debow Road southbound detour

  • Motorists wishing to travel on Wright-Debow Road southbound will be directed to travel on Wright-Debow Road northbound
  • Turn left onto Monmouth Road/CR 537
  • Turn left onto Cassville Road/CR 571
  • Turn left onto West Commodore Boulevard/CR 526
  • Turn left onto Wright-Debow Road

Wright-Debow Road northbound detour

  • Motorists on West Commodore Blvd/CR 526 wishing to travel on Wright-Debow Road northbound will be directed to continue on West Commodore Blvd/CR 526 westbound
  • Turn right onto Cassville Road/CR
  • Turn right onto Monmouth Road/CR 537
  • Turn right onto Wright-Debow Road

The $2.8 million federally-funded project will replace the bridge deck, approaches, and parapets, which are in poor condition. The new bridge will be an in-kind replacement of the current structure with one 12-foot lane and narrow shoulder in each direction. The bridge replacement project is expected to be completed by summer 2021.

Variable Message Signs are being used to provide advance notification to motorists of all traffic pattern changes associated with the work. The precise timing of the work is subject to change due to weather or other factors.
