The New York City Five boro bike tour will take place this Sunday, forcing the closure of multiple roadways as well as the Verrazano Bridge.
Officially known as the TD Five Boro Bike Tour, the event is billed as the nation’s largest charitable bike ride, with an estimated 32,000 cyclists set to bike on a 40-mile trip through all five New York City boros.
The tour will begin in lower Manhattan and conclude in St. George, near the Staten Island Ferry.
There will be dozens of street closures along the entire length of the tour, including the Staten Island-bound lower level of the Verrazzano Bridge, which will be closed on Sunday from 12:01am to 7pm.
The upper level of the bridge will remain open in both directions throughout the entirety of the event, though it will only be accessible in the Staten Island-bound direction from the Belt Parkway and 92 St entrance ramps.
Additionally closures include the Gowanus/Brooklyn-Queens Expressway (BQE) westbound approach (I-278 West) to the Verrazzano will be closed from 9:30am to 4:30pm, the Belt Parkway entrance ramp to the Staten Island-bound lower level from approximately 12:01am to 7pm, and the Bay St exit from 7am to 7pm.
