  1. Legally can they just pull you over without any suspicion? Just random I thought wasn’t legal, similar to those DWI check points. I understand if they see you on the phone or not wearing a seatbelt. Violation of the fourth amendment? I don’t have anything to hide, but why should you get stopped for no real reason?

  2. Sadly, all the rights so many had fought and died for are being given up in the quest for safety. A great visionary once said that those who would give up freedom for safety deserve neither. So what harm does somebody do to others if he doesn’t wear a seat belt? For this we allow ourselves to be stopped for nothing? This disturbs me. History has proven that giving unlimited power to government is fatal to people like us.

  3. This is not the first time.

This has nothing to do with safety- it’s a cash cow. They probably went over budget and need to figure a way to fill the gaps.

  4. Whenever thinks howell didn’t pick an erev shabbos when they knew half of lakewood was bouncing , I have a bridge to sell you! We should expand into howell instead of jackson and over the 70 .

  5. For all you know-it-alls out there. The only time you get pulled over in a check point like this is if a violation is observed when you approach, (expired inspection, seatbelt, cellphone etc…). If no violation is observed, you get sent on your merry way without being told to pull over. So quit complaining!!!. Don’t break the law, you wont get pulled over. And Daniel, what is “the 70”??. Do you mean ROUTE 70, Einstein?

  6. The US supreme court ruled that the checkpoint is legal but you do not have to give/show any documents or answer any questions, unless a violation has been committed.

  7. Daniel why would you make a comment like “maybe we should move into Howell instead of Jackson” it makes you sound threatening, why would you want to protray yourself that way?

  8. If you have an expired license, registration or inspection sticker, they will know it by putting your data in a computer. I get pulled over a few times a year for expired NJ license. But I have a license in another state, so they send me on my way. And the two cars with expired inspection that park in front of my home every Friday will get a surprise tomorrow.

  9. Do you know if you live in NJ you are to have a Jersey license You are supposed to have only one driver licenses. You are supposed to turn in other state when get from new state

  10. Not answering any questions when being pulled over..is probably NOT wise..answer respectfully..and you’ll be on your way..while waiting..u can say a few kapitlech Thilim for cholei yisroel..its extra few minutes u thought u didn’t have..make the most of the situation!!

  11. Howell police personified. I always say its better to just pick up the parkway in brick ( down county line rd.) there is no need to travel through Howel!!!

  12. I got pulled there for not having a front licence plate. It did nor take long and I was on my way after only a few minutes. I support the police. Thanks to the police for keeping us safe even if there are occasionally annoying circumstances such as this whole checkpoint thing

  13. They should rename it Jewpoint because that’s really what they are looking for .
Today I felt like a criminal dodging cops all day , knowing that they are actively out to get us .
It’s one thing if you are commuting a legit crime like speeding , drinking n driving , wreck less etc .
    It’s another when these antisemetim
Are just looking to catch another Jew to fill their coffers.
I hope you post this so at least the police force know how we sometimes feel inside .

  14. Mark, if you are doing nothing wrong, you will not get any tickets. Why would you ever need to dodge the police? What are you doing wrong?!?! And by the way, other towns have periodic check points as well. It’s anit-crime only.
