Tomorrow’s memorial service will take place at 7:30 p.m. in the Municipal Auditorium, 231 Third Street Lakewood. The tentative agenda for the service includes the opening remarks by Mayor Miller, the posting of the colors, singing of the national anthem, Pledge of Allegiance, invocation, prayer for the men and women in service, a moment of silence, Memorial flag placement ceremony, tribute video, comments from Lakewood Township Committeemen, and a closing benediction.

Lakewood’s traditional Memorial Day Parade and ceremony will begin at 9:45 a.m. at Lakewood’s Town Square, Clifton Avenue, Monday, May 28. The Memorial Day Parade pass the Review Stand on its way down Clifton Avenue to the All War Memorial Amphitheater at Lake Carasaljo, North Lake Drive, where the Memorial Day program will take place.

In case of inclement weather the Memorial Day ceremony will be postponed to a later date.

  1. I wish I could join the ceremony on Monday, but Monday is the Jewish holiday of Shavuos, and Orthodox Jews may not drive on Shavuos.

I will be there in spirit.

G-d bless the men and women of our great military and their families.

  2. All synogogues will be having the Yizkor memorial ceremony on Memorial Day. I couldn’t think of a better day for our veterans to be remembered than on Yiszkor memorial.

  3. Just remember who fought for you to have that freedom of a holiday. Anybody who lives in the area can still walk to the parade.
