Township Pays Tribute To 30 Year Crossing Guard Mrs. Ella Mary Burdge

PHOTOS & VIDEO: Family and friends of Mrs. Ella Mary Burdge filled the Township auditorium last night as the Township Committee paid tribute to the legendary Crossing Guard. Mrs. Burdge, who passed away about two weeks ago, served as a crossing guard in Lakewood for over 30 years.

“Let it be known for all eternity that which your mother did here in Lakewood Township, will not be forgotten”, Mayor Miller said after presenting each of Ella Mary’s children with a plaque. “For those of us who have been crossed by her will never forget her.”

Hundreds of school children paid their respects to Mrs. Burdge during her funeral in Lakewood on March 15. TLS.

  1. She was wonderful… Crossing Guards don’t have an easy job anymore. I make sure I thank them when I see them. They are an asset to Lakewood.
