The following is the schedule for the next two observed Holidays, as given to TLS today by the DPW. Friday February 11th is a Twp. Holiday (observed Lincoln’s Birthday): Thursday garbage and recycling will be picked up on Wednesday, Friday Garbage and recycling will be picked up on Thursday.
Monday, February 21st is also a Twp. Holiday (observed Washington’s Birthday).
The Monday garbage & recycling will be picked up on Tuesday, and Tuesday’s garbage and recycling will be picked up on Wednesday.
TLS thanks for the info AFTER the fact, i had no idea thursday pickup would be today until I saw the garbage truck fly past my house. nice to read this article, little help it did!
Same here #1
What about the days during the snow storm that they didn’t show up? Were they also somones birthday?
numbers 1 & 2 you have major attitude! It is not TLS responsibility to tell you when to take out your garbage! It is a big plus to be told on such a site, but maybe complain to DPW for not reminding you. I will be honest, my garbage is not picked up on Thursday so I wasn’t affected, but this attitude of yours is still disgusting.
arrogance and big govt at the DPW at least have the courtsey to let us know in advance.
How were we supposed to know? PW website is not updated since 2008!!!!! No calendar for those “holidays” anywhere.
This is not right I did not now . Now my garbage will pile up .
WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!
I was under the impression that the country installed a “President’s Day” to celebrate both Washington and Lincoln’s birthday on the same day. This was “supposed” to do away with the individual holidays.
Please post Before the pickup not AFTER pickup. I rely on the Scoop and my garbage stayed behind this week.
The U.S. federal government website only displays “President’s Day” observed. Not a separate holiday for both Lincoln and Washington.

Anyone else who missed garbage pick-up, please call the Public Works Department – 732-905-3405. There wasn’t sufficient notice about the trash pick-up change. This is a TWP observed holiday, not a Country-wide one (i.e. Federal Holiday).
How is anyone supposed to know if they dont inform the public. They should leave a flyer the week before. It’s really not right, all my bins are full now I’ll have to wait another week?!
This whole article is full of garbage. 🙂
The Masa UMatan had this information last week.
WHY would you let us know this after the pick up day so now Thursday my garbage won’t be picked up thanks a lot!!!
I can’t figure out how you can possibly fill those large bin up in a week. I only put mine out once a month.
I recently signed up for email alerts that let me know when there will be road closures on different streets around town. Can the LDPW PLEASE set up such a system for schedule changes and the like? The BOE now accepts complaints via texts and email, I think it would be greatly appreciated if the LDPW joined us in the digital age too.
Editor: What’s the matter with my comment?
I can’t believe what I have just read here! TLS tries to post a reminder and all you can do is COMPLAIN!!!!! Wake up, Public Works mailed out a schedule to every resident in the town, those of you complaining most likely threw them out as junk mail. It contains every thing that Public Works does in this town and WHEN!!!! Next time you get one KEEP it, and READ it!!!
Is # 1 DO you live in Lakewood long??
You live in america.
to #18. We definitly did not get it! Why don’t they post it on LPW website? Why not publish a note somewhere? Or at least put a sign or publish a reminder just a bit earlier???
TLS probably didnt either know till after the fact 😉
OMG!! as i’m posting this, i hear a truck outside my window and sure enough its collecting garbage!! i live on south side and also missed garbage yesterday (i noticed the truck as it was already passing my house) so of course didnt think necessary to put out for thurs….well the truck was just picking up garbage from anyone that did have their bins out….ON THURSDAY! WOW!!
I would say to go to Public Works and get another copy of the flyer but with everyone screaming to cut their budget, they most likely don’t have the money to reprint them, never mind the postage to do another mailing.
