VIDEO: The Township Thursday evening held one of two Memorial Day ceremonies, remembering the heroic actions of those men and women who have served in the military and are currently serving in the military.
The event Thursday evening featured opening remarks by Mayor Miller, the posting of the colors, singing of the national anthem by Cantor Shua Kessin, Pledge of Allegiance, invocation, prayer for the men and women in service, a moment of silence, a memorial flag placement ceremony, comments from the Township Committeemen, and a closing benediction. The event closed with G-d Bless America by Cantor Flam.
Lakewood’s traditional Memorial Day Parade and ceremony will begin at 9:45 a.m. at Lakewood’s Town Square, Clifton Avenue, Monday, May 28. The Memorial Day Parade pass the Review Stand on its way down Clifton Avenue to the All War Memorial Amphitheater at Lake Carasaljo, North Lake Drive, where the Memorial Day program will take place. I’ve been living in Lakewood over 40 years and never has a Mayor had the foresight and thoughtfullness to host a Memorial Day Weekend ceremony in the air conditioned auditorium for us seniors who cannot walk in the parade.
