PHOTOS: The Township Committee this past Thursday got a look at the new Lakewood First Aid ambulance recently delivered to the volunteer squad. The Ambulance, partially funded by the UEZ, replaced an older Ambulance which was nearly unusable.
“They’re a great group of volunteers and always available”, Mayor Menashe Miller said.
Committeeman Steven Langert, who also assisted the group in optaining the funds, had nothing but praise for the Township’s oldest emergency volunteer organization.
“It’s an excellent organization and I encourage anyone who’d like to give back to the town to take advantage of the fact that Lakewood has a volunteer squad”, Langert said. “I personally thank them for their dedication and volunteerism.”
Using an old ‘box’ for the new ambulance – which was stripped and remounted – the Lakewood First Aid Squad saved about $50,000.
The First Aid Squad does approximately 600 transports a year, and serves as the backup squad for the Township’s EMS service. The squad also performs extrications.
Standing near the Township Officials who assisted them in getting the funds for the new ambulance, are LFA members Captain Mordy Berger and Jason Shanik, who serves as the Engineer and haed of Finance and Membership.
“We’d like to thank the Committee for working to make this dream a reality”, they said. TLS.
Thank You Yaakov Shanik for doing such a great job and getting us such a great deal on this amazing rig! You the best ! Atrue volunteer you are
It’s great to see a “New bus” in town even if it is a remount with new stripes….. But the question that remains is …. if in previous years there were many members of the fire department that were members of the extrication team because they knew what they were doing but suddenly they were told they were only needed on Friday nights through Saturday nights …..can someone please explain why numerous people with extensive experience were told they could only respond on certain days and or nights ??????????
The fire dept was started in 1888 thats quite a bit before the first aid.
Maybe the two askonim can help Hatzolah get a much needed ambulance to replace a old & broken one
#3 what are you talking about??????
To #3 what are you talking about …. I honestly must laugh at your question for the simple reason that if you were or are a member of the extrication team you know exactly what I speak of and there is no explanation needed but if you are not a member I would suggest you join and then you will find out and realize the answer to your question

# 3 is referring to the statement in the article.
“Committeeman Steven Langert, who also assisted the group in optaining the funds, had nothing but praise for the Township’s oldest emergency volunteer organization.”
Which is not accurate as Lakewood First Aid and Emergency Squad was incorporated in 1930 while the Lakewood Fire Department manned by volunteers was established in 1888.

Both Lakewood First Aid AND Hatzolah got the same amount of money from the town for new rig. Check your facts before posting….
