Township Committee Honors Arbor Day Tree Design Winners

PHOTO: The Township Committee this evening awarded eight children who have taken part in an Arbor Day tree design contest. The children, all from the Oak Street school were awarded with Blue Claws tickets and a proclamation from the Township Committee and from Senator Singer.

The top three winners also won checks ranging from $25-$100, sponsored by the First Commerce bank.

Last Friday, the Mayor and members of the Shade Tree commission celebrated at the Ella G. Clarke school as they planted a tree in honor of Arbor Day. TLS.

  1. again, they dont tell us about it til afterwards and again another cereminy, people I will b keeping tracking of how many ceremonies. thats 2 ceremonies today.

  2. To Richard Simmons-Why do you have a problem with a ceremony honoring kids who’ve excelled? Especially kids from the public school that everyone’s bashing ? Don’t always look for problems and issues when there are none. They even had private sponsors for the prizes so why gripe and grouch? Besides, if you had excelled in school you wouldn’t spell “ceremony” as “cereminy” and say things like “I will be keep tracking” instead of “I will be keeping track.” Just saying.

  3. Just think how many entries in the poster contest the Shade Tree Commission would have if all of the private schools wanted to participate… they would be judging for a month …i vay
