The Board of Fire Commissioners and Township officials have agreed to cut down the defeated budget, officials say.
The Fire Department budget was defeated during last month’s elections over the hiring of additional paid firefighters, officials say.
Some of the commissioners were for hiring more paid firefighters, while others argued there were plenty volunteers and there was no need to have the taxpayers pick up the tab.
The new budget will include a decrease of approximately $225,000, and is expected to be passed during the next Township Committee meeting.
