Township Cleans Graffiti Markings Ahead Of The Holidays

PHOTOS: The Township today cleaned up graffiti markings in parts of town ahead of the Pesach and Easter Holidays. The Department of Public Works said they cleaned the markings off fences along Ridge Avenue and Pine Street, to enhance the quality of life in the neighborhoods.

The DPW requests that residents report graffiti markings to the Department so that they could be removed.

  1. I wish ,they would clean all the streetcorners from all the Cardbox — sings .ore Give the owner a Fine for Not collecting them .

  2. i’ve seen plenty of places that have been “tagged” and not cleaned up. even on the sign of a girl’s yeshivah. i don’t understand why this problem hasn’t been addressed more aggressively. it is usually latino gangs marking their “territory.”

  3. btw lakewood has one of the largest concentration of latino gangs in all of nj- that is why we have state police patrolling along with the township, because of cuts and there aren’t enough police to handle the amount of gang activity.look it up if u don’t believe me.

  4. I would rather they put out dumpsters on Forest Ave for our Chometz garbage. By the way, does anyone know if that’s happening this year like in the past? Or we don’t pay enough in taxes. I haven’t seen it publicized.

  5. WHY DONT THEY CLEAN IT UP THE OWNERS, OR WHEN YOU GET A BRAT DOING SOMETHING WRONG AND take THEM IN JAIL FOR A FEW DAYS , TAKE THEM OUT AND LET THEM CLEAN UP THE TOWN, than at night put them back in.

  6. its the homeowners responsibility to clean up along the outside of the fence line also. look at ridge, lanesmill, county line, etc. garbage all over.

  7. Just wondering why the township is cleaning up fences that have been “tagged” ……. I always was under the assumption that if a property owner decides to put up a fence it is the property owners responsibility to maintain it …. can someone please explain why my tax dollars are being spent for a task that should be done by the owner of the property ?

  8. what a bunch of spoiled rotten brats the previous posters are, just complaints and why not this and why not that, the article clearly states that the DPW did it to enhance the quality before the holidays,i haven’t seen a word of thanks yet,so i will take this opportunity and say thank you to the DPW for doing whatever they can to make lakewood look great for the holidays,THANK YOU DPW!!!!

  9. To all who are asking, has your property been vandalized? At least the township is helping us maintain the grafity. How many days can we spend cleaning and recleaning the fences? So long as they don’tcatch these idiots I’m thankful for all the help the township provides. I would however love to see people in stripes do it – that should rectify some of the problem.

  10. quite frankly, i would be embarrassed if were my property were to have graffiti on it & would take it upon myself to clean it,

  11. I think the candidates should weigh in as to why they let tax payer monies clean up private property. Is this going to be the new norm? There are far more important things that need to be done, new lights, sidewalks, road improvements, lane paintings, parking spaces.

  12. Being as the township has so much money in it’s budget that it can have the DPW clean up PRIVATE PROPERTY, which should be done by the homeowner, I will not bother to pay my taxes. The township does not need my money. And if the township insists that I pay my taxes I shall demand the township sent the DPW workers to my house to repaint it, as it is getting dirty and I don’t feel like painting it myself. What’s good for the goose is good for the gander.

  13. Why is the township cleaning Private Citizens Fence?
The home owner should be fined for not cleaning it, just they are fine for not maintaining there lawns.
