By B.K. Lakewood is proud to welcome to its midst a talmid chacham of rare caliber. Rav Yitzchak Benzecry, rosh yeshivah of Yeshivat Hadrat Melech and author of eighteen seforim, is one of the select few who can demonstrate expertise in both the revealed and hidden Torah.
For the past 50 years, Rav Yitzchak Benzecry of Yerushalayim has plumbed the depths of Torah with some of the greatest luminaries of our generation. Born in London to a family of Gibraltarian extraction, he began his education in some of the UK’s most prestigious yeshivos, beginning in Yeshivas Netzach Yisroel and continuing on to learn issur v’heter, shechita, and safrus in London’s Eitz Chaim yeshiva. He also obtained teaching credentials from Montefiore College in Ramsgate, Kent, an institution dedicated to training young talmidei chachamim for community service.
Upon his arrival in Yerushalayim fifty years ago, Rav Benzecry learned gemara and poskim with Rav Ben-Tzion Abba Shaul and Rav Yosef Addas. He also immersed himself in the esoteric parts of the Torah, studying kabbalah with legends such as Rav Mordechai Sharabi, Rav Yitzchak Kaduri, Rav Sasson Mizrachi, and Rav Mordechai Attie. Most recently, he learned kabbalah for fifteen years with Rav Yaakov Hillel.
Currently, Rav Benzecry is the Rosh Yeshivah of Yeshivat Hadras Melech, where morning and night kollelim ensure that the kol Torah resounds throughout the day and night. The rosh yeshivah delivers the kabbalah shiur himself, while his son, the rav and dayan Rav Sar-Shalom Benzecry, delivers a daily Choshen Mishpat shiur. Talmidim of the yeshivah achieve semichah, and those who participate in the study of kabbalah acquire a proficiency in the writings of the Arizal, as well as davening from the Siddur HaKavanos of the Rashash.
The rosh yeshivah will attend a reception on behalf of his yeshiva at 8:00 pm this evening, July 17, at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Ovadia Malchi, 606 South Lake Drive, featuring a hot fleishig buffet. In addition to Rav Benzecry’s shiur, Harav Dovid Schustal and Rav Dov Dubovick of Chicago will also address the participants.
For private appointments through Thursday, July 22, please call 732-552-8262.
Looking fwd to attend. Thank you
