The LPD car seat check event will be taking place between 5-8pm tonight at 733 Cedarbridge Avenue, (across Blueclaws).
The events are scheduled to take place on the first Tuesday of each month – due to fire house availability.
Certified Child Passenger Safety technicians will inspect your car seat for expiration, recalls, improper installation and proper use. If any issues are observed, the technician will address the problem(s) and educate the caregiver. The caregiver will be able to uninstall and reinstall the car seat in case they need to install the car seat in another vehicle.
There is no charge for the event.
However, the LPD advised people planning to attend the car seat check event “to also bring along some seats from home, so you’ll have a place to be seated while your seats are being inspected. We do not have free seating available.”
“Please also take note that we are only authorized to check car seats,” the LPD noted, “and thus, if you bring along damaged seats from home, and you fall from those seats while waiting for your seats to be inspected, it’s your problem, not ours.”
