The positive feedback of the nearly 300 people who attended the successful event last year, and the overwhelming demand, has inspired us to forge ahead with subsequent events. The Lev Rochel Bikur Cholim of Lakewood in conjunction with the JCCSG (Jewish Crohn’s Colitis Support Croup) are pleased to invite Patients, husbands, wives, parents and caregivers of those suffering from Crohn’s disease and Ulcerative Colitis for an Education Symposium & support event.

The evening will focus on awareness, knowledge, and support for those affected directly or indirectly by Inflammatory Bowel Diseases, known as Crohn’s Disease and Ulcerative Colitis; which if left untreated can lead to life-threatening complications.

The event will take place at 7:30 PM tonight, May 16, 2017, At the headquarters of the Lev Rochel Bikur Cholim of Lakewood, 93 Prospect Street. Parking available in adjacent parking lot.

Crohn’s and Colitis are found more commonly in Caucasians. According to studies, CD and UC are two to three times more common in those with Ashkenazi Jewish ancestry, suggesting that CD and UC may be inherited.

The Jewish Crohn’s and Colitis Support Group (JCCSG) was founded in 2011 by a group of sufferers with its mission to provide Advocacy, Education, Help, Information, Medical referrals and Support to the people of the Orthodox Jewish community who are suffering of Crohn’s disease and Ulcerative Colitis. To improve the quality of life of children and adults affected by these diseases. And to spread awareness within the community.

“Because neither the cause nor a cure for these chronic conditions is yet known, one has to learn how to live with the complications that occur with the diseases,” said Tzvi Yaakov Shapiro. “Supporting each other, and being educated are important for those suffering from this painful condition. It is so easy to feel alone, but it doesn’t have to be that way. After our last year’s event we already made such a big difference for many sufferers, and can make a difference for you and your family. When I started working on the event last year I couldn’t even imagine that we will have that turnout.”
