Toms River Woman Killed, Seven Others Injured When 93-Year-Old Crashes Into Ocean County Restaurant

A 56-year-old Toms River woman was killed this morning after a vehicle crashed into an Ocean County restaurant while she was eating breakfast, officials told TLS.

Police said the 93-year-old driver was attempting to park when she apparently hit the accelerator instead of the brake. The vehicle went through Lavallette’s Meg’s Grill restaurant’s outdoor dining area and crashed into the building.

The driver suffered minor injuries, while seven other people were injured in the crash.

The investigation remains ongoing.

So sorry to hear about the 56 year old woman & a speedy recovery to all the injured.
It’s not the 1st time this happened in Tom’s River . Recently a 93 year old guy drove into a bank and the heavy duty counters saved the tellers lives.
It’s the democrats fault! They let 93 year olds drive because they need the elderly vote, and in NJ no eye exam is required for decades & for elderly all that’s required is 20/50 vision atleast in one eye, the other eye may be blind .
If I with g-d’s help will live to be 93 I will have years ago surrendered my driving privilege . At that age you can no longer see at night that’s if you still have some decent vision , your reflexes & alertness have slowed etc. why would a 93 year old even want the headache of owning a vehicle as insurance will be very high , can no longer drive long distances or at night. It’s much cheaper to just use an Uber.
Maybe there will soon be totally self driving vehicles, but will elderly be competent enough or have good enough near vision to enter the correct destination.

With all dues respect, there are people in their nineties driving. A crash can be due to vision or it can be reflexes. There is a new test reuired periodically, but yes, poeple should evaluate themslves, and family memebers should help out – both with the evaluation and to drive them, so they don’t feel constrained without driving.

Why is there no name or pictures for the person who crashed the car killing someone and injuring others.
