Toms River Man Killed When ATV Strikes Trees in Jackson

A Toms River man was killed when his ATV struck trees in Jackson, police say.

On April 19th, 2025, at approximately 6:18pm, officers were dispatched to a rural trail area, known as the Clayton Pits which is located behind the Pine Barrens Golf Course off of South Hope Chapel Road for a serious ATV crash involving a single rider.

Preliminary investigation has determined that a male operator, identified as Brandon Orozco-Avila, age 28 of Toms River, was operating his ATV on the dirt trails at the aforementioned location when he lost control of his vehicle, causing him to veer of the trail and into the heavily wooded area, striking numerous trees.

Resultant of the crash, Mr. Orozco-Avila sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene.

As a result, several agencies have been notified or involved in the response and investigation including the Ocean County Sheriff’s Department Criminalistics Investigation Unit, and the Ocean County Medical Examiner.

The Investigation is ongoing/active at this time. Any person having information regarding this crash investigation is encouraged to contact Jackson Police Officer Zachary Rodina at 732-928-1111.
