On Friday, at approximately 7:44pm, the East Dover Fire Company was dispatched to an activated fire alarm in a residential property located on Sandy Place.
First arriving patrol units arrived on scene and observed visible flames on the third floor of the home. At this time, the incident was upgraded to a structure fire and eventually reached 2 Alarms prompting a mutual aid response.
Crews from East Dover Fire Company responded and extinguished the fire. Due to the lack of fire hydrants in this area of town, over 2,200 feet of large diameter hose was used to supply apparatus at the scene.
There were no injuries to civilians or emergency personnel reported.
The fire appears to accidental in nature, caused by a failure of energized electrical equipment.
The fire is being investigated by Inspector Carlin of the Toms River Bureau of Fire Prevention and Patrolman Fallano of the Toms River Police Department.
