Tomorrow Marks One Of The Most Tragic Events In Lakewood’s History

[MULTIPLE TLS VIDEOS BELOW] Tomorrow, January 14, marks one of the most tragic days in Lakewood’s history, when Police Officer Chris Matlosz was shot and killed. Matlosz was patrolling the Golf View neighborhood, when he stopped to talk with the suspect, who pulled a gun and shot him at point blank range.

Matlosz, who had switched to the evening shift just days earlier, was pronounced dead a short time later.

On January 20, just months before he was to marry his fiancee, Kelly Walsifer, Matlosz was laid to rest after a funeral which drew about 10,000 law enforcement officials from around the Unites States.

The trial for Jahmell Crockham, the man suspected of murdering the 27 year old officer, is scheduled to begin January 17.

R.IP. Chris Matlosz, and thank you for your service and dedication to your town and Country. TLS.

  1. What a sad and horrific day in the history of Lakewood. Thank you LAKEWOOD for honoring a hero the way you have been doing. May he never be forgotten. I hope and pray Kelly is getting back to normal in some respect. My thoughts are always with you. God Bless!!!
