By: L. Halevi. Everybody knows of the remarkable work of Tomchei Shabbos. Everybody knows about the Shabbos packages, the Yom Tov packages and the life-saving assistance they give to hundreds of families right in our community, right in our own backyards.

If there is one word to describe this organization, which is tirelessly run in such a modest and dignified manner, that word would have to be “Giving”. That is what they do. Over and over and over, week in, week out, they give and give and give. It’s exhausting to just think about the endless ways in which they financially assist our friends, neighbors and relatives.

Not everyone can be involved physically, and not everyone can give huge checks to help them financially, but virtually everyone can chip in and purchase a raffle ticket or two (or three, or more) to take part in the exciting “Grand5ive” raffle campaign. It’s not a huge sum, but if everyone pitches in a little and does their part, it will really add up to make this year’s campaign a success, and enable Tomchei Shabbos to continue giving and giving and giving.

Of course, there is always that extra incentive: You may win fabulous prizes! Someone is going to win that 4-day weekend to Vermont; it might as well be you!
