PHOTO: A Lakewood toddler was flown to the hospital today after receiving severe burns from a coffee, officials tell TLS.
Hatzolah Paramedics responded to the home around 9:30 AM and treated the approximately two-year-old boy for second degree burns, officials said. Police also responded to the home.
The boy was transported to the landing zone on Prospect Street, from where he was airlifted by MONOC to the burn center in Livingston, NJ, with non life-threatening injuries.

How bad can a burn be form coffe to have to fly them out?!!
It says 2nd degres!
It said second degree so I guess there’s your answer.
Refuah Shleima b’karov to him!
Should coffee be so hot in a k’li shlishi?
Unfortunately it happened to my son too. On shabbos morning I made a coffee left it on the counter to get milk and he tipped it over onto himself. Baruch HaShem not the whole cup. Only about 2 oz , but it was enough to do damage. I caught him. He got a very bad burn on his arm. And a few over his chest. I threw him into the tub , then brought him to the pharmacy where they told me what to do. After Shabbos it was a long process with the burn unit and a bunch of dr appointment. The boy should have a complete refuah shelaima .
Ccoffee will cause three degree burns to a toddler I know a few people oerisnakly that had a tidlar sevral month’s in the icu with three degree burns across their whole boddy needing skin grafting etc from coffee
I guess it was pretty bad. But it IS surprising, especially since the coffee was made, presumably, using a kli sheini.
@standing if it was out of a pot that was currently being or was just warmed..that can burn a two year old pretty bad especially if it was on the face
Standing by:
I guess hot enough to cause a serious Burn that required a transport by Medivac.
Pour a cup of hot water on yourself and you’ll see. Lmk.
Coffee burn can be bad, even with milk. When I was a child I got a burn on my shoulder – through my clothes, from a cup of coffee. It blistered badly even after water treatment and kept me home from school for several days. I don’t know why it wasn’t checked out, perhaps ignorance. Over 35 years later I still remember it clearly.
A kid got burned and all you’re worried about is if the coffee was made the proper way on shabbos!!! It’s time to stop judging people!!! Where are your priorities? When a child gets hurt, it’s not the the time to blame people for doing the right or wrong halachos-causing pain to their children. It’s time to stop judging everyone around you! why don’t you start with worrying about your own actions before judging others! The child should have a refuah shelama
To camp simcha
Take it easy. We don’t even know these parents are Jewish. So forget about shabbos. It’s not the issue.
Rachel said, “l The boy should have a complete refuah shelaima .”
Like מים אחרונים וואסער or חלב ישראל מילעך.
I am the bubby of this toddler and some of your comments are sickening
Instead of voicing your hopes that this child has a refuah shelaima you write about a kli shaini or shelishi. These are skewed priorities
May the child have a refuah sheleima and may all people learn a lesson and not leave anything hot in a place where there is the remotest possibility of a toddler or anyone else getting burnt.
A cup of hot oil in a kli Sheyni can serenely burn but the ohr somaiyach explains that is not cooking .it may be burning or heating in a different way but not what the Torah mentioned by cooking although you can make food ready in such a fation
