TODAY: Toll Hikes Go Into Effect

As previously reported on TLS, the toll rates for bridges and tunnels controlled by the Port Authority will increase today, Sunday, January 5th.

Cash tolls rose from $15 to $16, peak hours EZ-Pass rates went from $12 to $13.75, and off-peak hour rates increase from $10.50 to $11.75.

Peak hours are 6-10 AM and 4-8 PM on weekdays and 11 AM to 9 PM on Saturdays and Sundays.

The crossings affected by the toll hike are the Lincoln and Holland Tunnels, the Outerbridge Crossing, the George Washington Bridge, the Bayonne Bridge and the Goethals.

The Port Authority says the toll hikes are necessary to keep up with inflation and to pay for $5 billion in planned upgrades.
