Roshei Yeshiva and admorim in America have issued a call for a unified Yom Kippur Katan today ahead of Rosh Chodesh Nissan in response to the many struggles and hardships posed by the Covid-19 pandemic.
In a letter calling for the joint Yom Kippur Katan, the rabbanim and admorim note that it has now been a year since the beginning of the pandemic to which klal yisroel lost so many lives, including numerous gedolei yisroel, and that even more still need a refuah.
They also point out that many have lost their parnassah and the deleterious effect that lockdowns had on Torah learning and tefillah betzibur, and particularly the adverse effects it has had on younger children.
They are therefore calling for a national yom tefillah to beseech for rachmei shamayim to heal the sick and to keep everyone healthy.

all these asifas, who are they for? it would be nice if the timing were like 530 pm so working people could join in. we are also part of klal yisroel
It seems like they were trying to get as many people as they could in America AND in Eretz Yisroel. The time difference is hard.
