TLS Reader Offers Possible Option for Sick Houston Boy

irvingOne of our readers, Gerry Mullen, contacted TLS with information he believes may shine a glimmer of hope for the young Houston boy whose family awaits an answer from the FDA.

Gerry provided the following information to TLS, which he hopes will reach the right party:

Dr. Irving Weisman has discovered a very promising cure for all cancers. This March or April clinical testing on humans is to commence. Dr. Weissman learned that malignant cells uses a protein which he labeled CD-47 to protest themselves from being destroyed by our immunization system.

In the past 6 months, Dr. Weissman’s team developed an antibody to destroy the CD-47, enabling the immune system to identify and destroy the cancer. Experimentation in the lab and in animals has had dramatic success. Clinical trials will determine the success or failure on humans. Several caveats always exist:

1) Will the cancer cells develop other proteins to protect themselves

2) It is a long jump from the animal world to the human world.

Only clinical testing will tell the tale.

I highly recommend that the Houston boy with little or no hope of a cure be placed on the list of trials for human testing by Dr. Weissman’s antibody. The plea by the boy’s parents for money to try a cure by a doctor whose credentials are in question by the FDA should also be continued–trying both is a double hope for the boy.

To get on Dr. Weissman’s list will be difficult no doubt–persistence, arguing with the powers that be is the answer. I’m asking the Jewish community worldwide to help this boy!!!!

I’m enclosing several addresses to substantiate my statements above and provide further help to those who wish to have a greater interest in the technical aspects of CD-47.

Finally, I like to ask of all Jews to pray for the Houston boy and to suggest several things and suggest only:

1) Suggest all Jews do more Talmud Torah.

2) Suggest all Jews do more davvening.

3) Suggest all Jews do more Chesed —- deeds of kindness.

A goy,

Gerry Mullen

  1. Gerry: This is unbelievable. I am going to second seder (at BMG) in a few minutes and will definitely learn much much better. Wishing you lots of luck and thanks for the chizuk.

  2. Sounds like Merck, Pfeizer, Sanofi, etc. etc. are all about to go bust. I’m a seller. Going to invest my entire life savings in Dr. Weissman with the questionable credientals.

  3. I think Warren B didn’t get it right, Dr Weissman is NOT the one with questionable credentials, it’s the other way around. Any way, look for other things to sell just in case they do go bust.

  4. #1 – its already 4:34pm and you’re only first going to second seder in a few minutes. Isn’t that kind of late? If I remember when I was a cool masmid in BMG, seder started around 3:40/3:45. I’m only kidding. Learn geshmuk!!

  5. Btw, for those in the know, Gerry Mullen is the father of Chris Mullen, standout shooting guard of St John University in Statend Island & later, as a pro in the NBA for the I-forgot-already.

  6. This is truly fascinating stuff, wow !! Truthfully, however, why doesnt he contact the Coen’s directly ? Dont tell us, tell them.

  7. Idk who #1 is so Idk if he was late to seder or not, but fyi the comments don’t post right away, as they first need to “await moderation”.

  8. we have a non jew telling us to learn more Torah and daven more. how right he is! before we organize tznius events that fill up every day in the calendar lets remember to take out a few minutes to daven!

  9. to #6: I work all day and make it my business to learn in Yeshiva each day from 4:45-6:45. Why don’t you come back to Yeshiva. there is nothing like it. Leave your cell phone in the car and you will have the best 2 hours of the day.

  10. Totally imazing!!!! Gerry we shall all learn from there is alott to learn from you and I’m sure we have only seen a minut of your greatness! Good luck in ur future endeavors!

  11. B’vah’chah’shah, all of u who called me or write comments such as those above, just study Torah and try to live as much as possible by its obligations.

    Toddah rabbah, Gerry Mullen.

  12. This is a great suggestion. Holds a lot more promise than burzynski. Nobody should be chasing a “cure” that has no proof to back up its claims. Dr weisman has conducted clinical trials and written papers proving that his treatment works. They can easily call or email him . There’s researchers are more accessible than you think. And if they have trouble getting into this legitimate trial, I’m sure organizations such as chai lifeline can try to help. Thank you so much for suggesting this.
