Tiny Tots Closes Its Regular Ed Program

tiny totsFIRST REPORT: Tiny Tots has just notified TLS that they will be closing their doors to all their programs, including their regular ed program. Over the last 24 hours, Tiny Tots management has put much effort in trying to salvage the regular ed program, but was unsuccessful.

As of now, says Tiny Tots, it is suggested that everyone make alternate arrangements for their children.

Parents of the Tiny Tots program are currently being notified of the decision.

Wednesday was to be the first day of school. TLS-CCP

  1. Could you please make a list of all TT teachers that plan on forming their own groups for this school year. Please post age groups and teachers phone numbers.

  2. now live with the fact that u took away parnasa from tiny tots and all the teachers great job boe members live with that too! remmember there is a din vicheshbon coming…..

  3. Are you suggersting that it is the responsibility of the boe to make sure pre school teachers have jobs? Are you suggesting thst the boe is required to hire tt as a provider for special ed in order so thst you will have a pre school for your child? WOW!!!!!You sure have a selfish intitlement mentality

  4. Just to be clear the township also stopped contracting with macedonia day care run by the rev. harper so this was an across the board cut in preschool.

  5. #3 Is your head stuck in the sand? They failed inspection by the State who wouldn’t fund the program if it was given to TT. Are you willing to fund the $4 million? Is it the BOE members fault TT didn’t ensure their licensure was proper, their facilities were up to par, their teachers were certified, etc. Get with the program!

  6. This is horrible news. Its one less than 10 hours before I’m supposed to bring my kid to school. My wife and I have full time jobs. What are we supposed to do with my kids. You think they had a responsibility to decide this any earlier. I am also wondering what in the world was going on there. I understood the 4 million to help pay the tuition for the 50 kids. I mean something doesn’t make sense. My kids tuition was over 500 a month. How could they not be making enough money to stay around.?

  7. We owe so much Hakoros Hatov for all that Tiny Tots has put into our little one. The program was run so efficienly …. We hope that things will work out …Working full time parents need a caring environment for their children to grow. Unfortunately Lakewood doesnt have much options for those full time working parents. What we going to do? Any ideas?? Night before…this is cccccccccccccrrrrazy!!!!

  8. GET YOUR FACTS STRAIGHT!!!
The River Avenue location run by Tiny Tots is in full compliance and that’s the location being discussed here. All the teachers are properly certified and tax payers would not need to spend another dime on having the program run through Tiny Tots.

  9. Thank you TT for doing everything you could to try to make this work out. Still don’t know what I’m going to do this year because we need a full time program that offers what tt does.

  10. So how do you feel less than a week before R”H. Don’t get me wrong – i wish no harm on you, just want you to understand the ramifications of what was allowed to happen by you. Teachers lost jobs, a successful program was lost along with a better education than i’m sure ps can offer, children have nowhere to go tomorrow morning and parents need to take off work until they find a solution. Nice work.
Hope your kids enjoy public school

  11. It doesn’t make sense that the ps can start a program and even think that it can be successful in less than 24 hours. What’s everyone doing with their regular ed kids that need full time?

  12. Shocked this is actually happening. Our parents/grandparents that worked so hard to put us through private school would roll in their graves seeing how this played out. BOE members just successfully erased 60 years of progress.

  13. I would like to thank all the people behind the scenes in tiny tots who have tirelessly worked for the past few weeks on trying to keep this wonderful program afloat. While i do not know where my child will be going for the upcoming year, I know not many places that can compare to the professionalism, caring , dedication, organization and cleanliness that the tiny tots program and teachers have given to my child. Thank you and may you all merit a happy sweet successful new year.

  14. All the problems began when they lost the $400 Million Grant. Why wouldn’t the Gov. appeal and some how try to acquire the funds?

On a side note, Tiny Tots compared to other places in Lakewood is pretty expensive. I don’t understand why the Tiny Tots admin didn’t work harder to salvage the program, even if it didn’t mean they would make a killing…

  15. After many schools & special programs closing down & changing into other peoples hands etc… MAYBE NOW IS THE TIME TO LEARN…
these kind of things happening & people being Niftar at young ages or in strange ways R”L are all wake up call to klal yisroel & to the people of that town, that we only care about ourselves, but when it comes to helping/caring for another yid then i cannot help you.
with that being the case, each time tragedy strikes Hashem has the same question-for each person separately-now you have woken up, now you are crying at this baby’s levaya R”L but when we hear of someone else in tragic cases… we dont care. hashem then wants to know if we will wake up now to help others or do we need another tragic WAKE-UP call from hashem C”V to care for one another?
NOW-BEFORE ROSH HASHANA-is the time for each person to change his ENTIRE attitude in life between each other & bring achdus back to klal yisroel.

  16. 200,000 would’ve come out of taxpayer dollars to fund Tiny Tots yes, BUT WE LOST 2 million that wasn’t from taxpayer dollars and tomorrow amigo and martinez and Joey are so excited they are going on a FREE bus to a FREE public school program with FREE therapy with morah nechama and morah sara while yanky and moishy and fraidy sit at home with NO bus to ride NO therapy to help them succeed in life and NO morah Nechama and Morah Sara to encourage their progress and wipe the tears of their parents faces. HOW CAN ANYONE SLEEP TONIGHT??

  17. we need to make a Yom Ttefilah its just before Selichos amd look what’s happening nebach to all our kids over the last few weeks.
Remember there are still boys not in Yeshiva yet.
The Rabonim together with the Askonim need to make sure all kids are placed in Yeshiva or shut down the Yeshia system or all.

  18. 3 points. When the boe calls down the state to derail the program they dont get to cry “the state closed it down”. Those who are talking tax money it’s the same silliness ” JUST DONT DO IT A WEEK BEFORE SCHOOL STARTS!!. And last how is tt not up to par when the boe offered to rent the same location use the same staff and same program!? enlighten me

  19. It would seem to me that if parents are willing to pay $500/month for day care services someone should be able to make a business plan work. Perhaps the parents of “regular” TT kids should pool togetehr and get a few of the teachers to start a new daycare service that is privatley funded.

  20. To #10 – Anonymous says: in part “…My wife and I have full time jobs. What are we supposed to do with my kids…”

So this proves that you are using this program for VERY EXPENSIVE baby sitting at everyone else’s expense. Why don’t you have “Maria” babysit your kids while she cleans your house? That might also help the taxes go down.

I agree with # 27 – Torah Truth says: –It would seem to me that if parents are willing to pay $500/month for day care services someone should be able to make a business plan work. Perhaps the parents of “regular” TT kids should pool togetehr and get a few of the teachers to start a new daycare service that is privatley funded

  21. There are other full time babysitters as well in town.. Why didn’t TT let parents know they were closed – there were parents pulling up at the TT location on the way to work only to be turned around – they were told that at 11pm last night they decided not to open at all. What about Madison Title workers – will there be babysitting for them somewhere else or are they getting the day off to find a new babysitter/playgroup????

  22. I am a parent who sent to TIny Tots on my own dime for the last number of years… They did a tremendous job, especially since Mrs. K stepped in. I have no idea what just happened, but I am makir tov to them, and I hope that all the morahs and administrative staff who made it so great will find a new setting for their abilities.

That said, I have the following impressions from these events.

    1. There is no way, BOE, state government, whatever, that they should have the chutzpah to close down the day before the school year. We did not hear A THING until early this week that would suggest that there was a chance that they wouldn’t open for the regular (non-BOE) program. That is peshiah. They did not want to risk losing a few kids, so they kept us all in the dark. They should have told us, and taken the risk that they’d lose a few kids, or else they should have opened despite its current insolvency, and made the necessary adjustments on the fly. They were open for years before the board of ed kids came, they could have done it for another year.

The reason they didn’t do this seems obvious. They were greedy for every last kid, even the less profitable “regular” kids. And when it didn’t work out, once they got used to the flood of government cash, it no longer seemed worth it to struggle along, as a legitimate supply-and-demand business. Now, some entreprenuer will have a great idea and start the next one (hopefully soon!)

    2. It NEVER made any sense for the government to kick in free babysitting at inflated rates, just so that kids could have two hours of therapy a week. The idea starts as a good one – get kids up to speed in speech, understanding, etc. before they go to school, and you’ll have less trouble later. But the end – 2-4 hours of weekly therapy – didn’t justify the means, $10,000 plus of taxpayer money a year. The problem is that everyone jumped in to take full advantage, Tiny Tots cashed in, and now that same money is being blown in an in-house BOE program and no one is happy.

Honestly I have no idea who played what role here. If the BOE really shut it down and is really saving money for taxpayers, despite my own scramble for day-care, they did the right thing. But since the money is probably going to be blown the same way in the BOE program, it’s a bummer all around.

  23. If your kids are too good to mix with “amigo and martinez and Joey” then pay for private school or start your own. People wanted this BOE to cut cut cut and now that it hurts you in your pocket you complain? Funny when the shoe is on the other foot.

  24. You are right on the money.

Our nonprofit mosdos should step-in and open preschools. If it’s too late for this year, any mosod that has suitable space should definitely look into it for next year. Judging by the cost of public vs. nonpublic education, our mosdos can do the job more effectively for less than half the price. Will our mosdos rise to the challenge?

  25. the mosdos won`t open it up for 2 reasons. 1 If they accept someone for preschool and after a yr the child isn`t ready they won`t be able to throw him out. 2 it`s much mored proffesional if the therapists are based in 1 place thereby sharing everyones knowledge.
