This Is New Jersey’s Intelligence Score

Is there such a thing as state-by-state intelligence? Sure there is. Just as countries can be measured by their average IQs, so too can states. If you’re a resident of New Jersey, you might wonder where the state stands vis-a-vis others in terms of IQ scores.

The answer is that it is at the very top. Different analyses place The Garden State anywhere from one to four in the entire country in average IQ levels. Some people might be surprised at this; historically, the state has taken a back seat to New York in its reputation with New York City being the big center of finance, the arts, etc.

But interesting things have been happening in recent decades that have shifted the trends to some extent. Let’s take a closer look.

People moving en masse

One of the things that has been happening for the last several decades is that people have been moving out of New York City proper. It is no secret that New York has long had a reputation for being dirty, overcrowded, and too expensive. Wall Street employees and others first started making the move out of Manhattan and towards other boroughs in the 70s and 80s. The commute was still relatively easy, and life in certain Brooklyn and Queens neighborhoods offered people more space and a comparatively calmer atmosphere.

But it wasn’t long before these places started getting overcrowded themselves. So New Yorkers started looking for new places to commute from. There were already some parts of Northern New Jersey that were nicely developed and made appropriate jumping-off points for New York Commuters. Jersey City, the Oranges, and even places as far away as Monmouth have long been known as upper-class regions. So many New Yorkers started relocating to these areas and commuting to work.

As these areas have grown in the sophistication of their residents, urban services and school systems have similarly seen improvements. The gentrification has seen a shifting of the demographic in some cases, which hasn’t been good for everyone, but there is no question that it has meant a rise in the average IQ of these areas.

Businesses follow

Another interesting phenomenon that has been taking place is that businesses are also finding it too expensive to stay in New York, so they too are moving out and into more reasonable areas.

Newark, which is just a 30 minute train ride from New York, has attracted the corporate headquarters of manufacturing, healthcare, finance, and other types of companies to relocate there thanks to its lower rent and tax rates. The city is also developing a thriving arts scene, both in the visual and performing arts.

The state is also home to numerous higher education institutions, including Princeton, Rutgers, Seton Hall, and many others. For such a small state, it definitely punches above its weight in terms of academic prowess.

CerebrumIQ makes its rankings

CerebrumIQ is a groundbreaking new program that has been able to determine – to very fine degrees – how different demographic groups fare vis-a-vis one another, thanks to its revolutionary new system of cognitive assessment. If you are looking for a solid IQ check that will give you a realistic idea of where you stand on the intelligence scale, you should check this program out today.

The program offers a test that people anywhere in the world can take, regardless of their nationality or native language. It works by offering a series of pictorial tests that assess cognitive abilities in different areas. The program isolates the functions of memory, reaction time, logic, speed, and concentration and makes careful assessments of each of these skills.

If a test taker isn’t pleased with his or her score the first time around, there are exercises available to help with each of these cognitive areas. Games and exercises are fun, and they don’t feel like work that has to be pushed through. Many people find that they can practice these exercises on a regular basis as part of their daily routines.

After working on weaker areas, you may be surprised at the extent to which your score improves. Indeed, you can keep going with the exercises and tests until you reach the score you want.

Breaking ground in New Jersey and elsewhere

CerebrumIQ is making waves both in New Jersey, and indeed all over the world with its new technology. If you’re looking to sharpen your cognitive skills – or even just see where you stand on the spectrum – you should give CerebrumIQ a try today. Taking the test and working on areas where you could be stronger could indeed open up a whole new world for you in terms of increased educational opportunities, higher-ranking job positions, or any number of other things. And if you live in New Jersey, there are certainly many of these opportunities all around you!
