  1. I didn’t notice on the list – stay home and spent some quality down time – visit the elderly and sick at Leisure or the Courtyard. Why is it that people feel the need to DO something with the few days off. I’m beginning to think that this is a form of ADD. Or do the people who are going away have terrible living quarters and moving into 2 little rooms with their whole family for a few days is an upgrade? Are we at the point that so many families can’t stay home together for a few days?

  2. We are going to visit my 98 year old grandmother in a nursing home in Riverdale, NY. No one ever visits or calls her except my aunt once in a while. This is a HUGE mitzva and chinuch for the kids.

  3. why is it ADD to want to DO something? Several kids home+no schedule+ cold weather= lots of fights and messy house miserable kids and frustrated parents. if you go out and do something it doesnt have to be anything expensive or big, but that keeps the family happy and busy. and yes, the kids have happy memories of the time their parents took them to ___. once in a while do something fun with your kids.
we sometimes go buy a game -scattergories, boggle,- and play with the whole family. sometimes buy some sports equipment – new football, etc. and go to the park and play. its good.

by the way I hate vacation. I dont feel that the kids need vacation right now. they just had chanuka vacation and are doing well with their regular school routine. why mess?
