POLICE and CIU are investigating the theft of copper this morning, from several homes under construction. The thief broke into the unsecured homes and stole copper piping from them, including ripping out the Sheetrock from a wall in one of the homes, in order to gain access to the copper. Copper has been a valuable item and target of burglaries since its price skyrocketed in 2006. According to a report, copper burglaries usually rise and fall with the prices of the copper. A report also finds, that the stealing is usually done by someone who knows what they’re doing-an electrician for example.
